Colorist JD Mettler is a pro at tinting HernandezвЂ™s line work to create an almost painterly quality to the final art. HernandezвЂ™s depiction of David AjalaвЂ™s Book is particularly good, fully embodying the characterвЂ™s devil-may-care good looks, ease of movement, and charm. Grudge always looks suitably gorgeous, and as she meets the various members of DiscoveryвЂ™s crew, they all look spot-on, even as they have very little to do in the tale.

The best part of this comic is Angel HernandezвЂ™ art. In addition, finding out which member of DiscoвЂ™s crew gets GrudgeвЂ™s reluctant approval is a bit of a hoot. Once, this canyon had functioned as a floodgate system, the only reminders of its glorious past now being the saltwater dam waiting several miles. But there is a bit of drama when Grudge is actually forced to save the day. His gaze remained fixed upon the top of the bridge, and the supporting pillars shouldering its ornate design against the bedrock lining the sides of this artificial crevice mined in the sandstone. Grudge sees BookвЂ™s role in the relationshipвЂ“his work as a courier, rescuing endangered animal species, and his conflicts with hostile aliensвЂ“as one of leisure and providing for her more-important needs, while GrudgeвЂ™s role onboard shipвЂ“napping, eating, and gracing the world with her presenceвЂ“is the essential leadership job. The book is narrated by Grudge and takes us through the history of BookвЂ™s relationship with Michael Burnham from the perspective of a cat who sees herself as the center of the universe, and Burnham as an intruder into her perfectly-ordered realm.
